Better travel connections and the intensified contact to other parts of Nepal including the Kathmandu valley has, on the other side, made Hewa more and more vulnerable to negative impacts of development. The transport of goods in the region becomes easier day by day. This is further promoted by the road connection which has taken place in the meantime.

The access of modern products to the village also brings growing waste to Hewa. For the first time, there is a small shop in the village since 2015 and one could already see discarded rubbish along the paths in the same year. Glass bottles and beverage cans have found their way to the village, but there is no plan how to get rid of them when they have been emptied.

The keep the village clean in future and to safeguard the unpolluted environment, a policy has to be developed how the growing volume of waste can be managed. This is one of the most important tasks of HSCC and the village community in near future.
