There is a growing number of elder people in Hewa. The health conditions have improved a lot over the years. So. people on average are getting older than before. Besides, social structures are changing as well. The birthrate has gone down considerably; 2-3 children per famliy are normal today. These children are no longer able to take care of their aging parents. In this situation, there is need of a house where the elders can meet, where somebody takes care of them and where they can even live if necessary. The construction of such old-age home is one of the projects suggested by Lhakpa Doma Sherpa. HSCC and Verein Nepal-Inzlingen are interested, but this project is currently only planned for the future when the running projects are completed.
